B-17 theme created by Judd Yancey (yanceyj@wwics.com)

                             !!!!!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!
I have discovered that there is another B-17 theme "out there". I downloaded it and the file names are indeed different ie: mine all start with B17. The other themes files start with B-17 (hyphen) Since the other theme loads into a seperate file, and mine loads into the themes directory directly, there should be no conflict anyway. I still would not recommmend loading both themes into the same directory. I have both on my computer and they work fine. By the way it is an excellent theme! Damnit! !!!!!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!

                             !!!!!!!!!!ALSO!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been brought to my attention that some people may be offended by my "recycle bin full" icon. It represents the "mission symbols art" that appeared on the nose of nearly every WWII combat aircraft. Trying to maintain historical authenticity, I used swastikas as the symbol for enemy fighter kills. It was clearly not the intent of the aircrews (nor myself) to promote Nazism or Fascism. The Allied aircrews hated the Nazis as much as anyone. The "kill" symbols had a dual purpose. One, they were used to promote pride and espirt de corps to the crew sporting them and two, to demoralize the enemy. (Knowing they were up against a proven pilot and or crew HAD to have an effect!!) Belive me, I am well educated in WWII and therefore Nazi atrocities. I in NO WAY condone them or their practices. But....please feel free to e-mail me if you still have an objection. If I get many, I'll change the icon. Thanks.
                             !!!!!!!!!!ALSO!!!!!!!!!!!

New with this version:*******************************************************

1. Added cooler "help" and "unavailable" cursors.

2. Added B17b theme. Note: The only difference is the Original B17 theme has practical cursors, and B17b has fun cursors. (I decided to add this to give those who don't have Microangelo the option to switch.)

3. Added the Briefcase Icon. This icon actually came with MS Plus! Guess I cheated there! But it looks perfect for the briefcase in this theme. (You need Microangelo to make it so.)

4. Added 800x600 size wallpaper.

Version 1.02*****************************************************************

1. Camouflage Folders! Changes the default yellow windows folders to military style folders. (Sorry, Requires Microangelo software. See readme.txt
in that .zip file for instructions.)

2. Added more info to this .txt file. (don't I ever shut up!?!?)

Version 1.01*****************************************************************

1. Added a screen saver.
2. Fixed Plus install bug.
3. Fixed Directional cursors.
4. Changed default arrow cursor (If you have Microangelo You have 3 to pick from).

Installation:

1. Extract all theme files (those not "zipped" or with the .sys extention) into the themes directory of Plus!

2. Run Plus! and pick B17. (or B17b with fun cursors)

3. Click Apply. Wow! There it is.

4. Extract the zipped files to a temp directory and read the .txt files within for installation.

5. Read Item #4 in "Notes" below for installation of startup and shutdown screens. (.sys files)

                                   Notes:

1. I Couldn't believe that with all those themes out there, I didn't see ONE bomber theme let alone a B-17 one. So I made one! (You can tell I wrote this before I saw the other one.)

2. If you do not load this entire theme, I suggest using the "spruce" appearance scheme with this. (right click desktop, click appearance, scroll schemes til you find spruce, click ok.)

3. This is the first theme I've made so let me know of
any bugs. I'll fix em as soon as I can. I don't think there are any left.

4. To change the start up and shut down screens:
   a. On your hard drive (usually C:) there is a file (logo.sys). If you like the default clouds and color band move it to a different file for now.
   b. Rename B17logo.sys to just logo.sys and put it in your hard drive directory (C:)
   c. Your done! All you have to do is restart windows and you'll have a B-17 startup screen.
   d. Repeat the process with logos.sys and logow.sys EXCEPT!! those files are in the windows directory NOT the hard drive directory. Again you may want to save those original files somewhere else.
   e. To restore your original screens reverse the process.
   f. Or get XRX Logo and disregard all previous steps!

5. To use the screen saver: extract the zip file "B17ss.zip", open it, and see the Slide_readme.txt for instructions.

6. If you really want to get into themes I highly recommend 2 programs: Microangelo (manipulate icons/cursors)and XRX Logo (manipulate startup and shutdown screens). Go to my homepage for links.

                      Credit where credit is due:

B17 wallpaper and .sys files scanned from the book:
"50th anniversary Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress"

1. B17 wallpaper "Black Thursday" Artist: Art Shultz
2. logo.sys "The Gauntlet" Artist: John Amendola
3. logow.sys "The Last Mission" Artist: Bob Parks
4. Sound files recorded from "Memphis Belle" the original documentary. (Yep, those are voices of actual B-17 crewmen)

                              Last words:

I'm pretty sure this is the last update to this theme. I'm a perfectionist can you tell?? I really didn't like to include so much that you need Microangelo for but Plus! is so limited!!! Anyway if you don't have it and are not going to get it just pitch those files....Camo folders and extra icons.

Looking back I should have made more sound files but the ones for "menu pop up, maximize, restore down etc." Just drive me BAT-SH_T!!! There's only ONE theme that I've actually liked 'em on. (That one is of the original Alien movie. The whole theme is primo!) So I decided not to include 'em. Sorry if that ruins it for ya but I think there's more people that would agree with me.

I really enjoyed making this theme. If you think it's any good let me know I might make more.

I built this for my own amusement AND for those who might appreciate B-17's AND for the brave men who fought and died on them.

                                Enjoy
